Columbia rated the fifth most selective college in America

But we were beaten by Harvard and Yale

College ranking site Startclass has rated Columbia one of the top five most selective schools in the US.

According to the site our current acceptance rate is 6.9 per cent, and has been steadily declining since 2002, when it was 14 per cent.

Columbia’s total yearly applicants stands at a massive 32,967, but only 2,291 people are accepted.

We were pipped to the top most selective spot by Yale, Harvard, and Stanford who came in 4th, 3rd and 2nd place respectively.

The Curtis Institute of Music however, beat all the Ivies to the top spot with just a 5.1 per cent acceptance rate.

Out of 277 applicants just 14 got into the school.
