President Brown ‘heartsick’ regarding Neo-Nazi posters spotted at BU

‘The human capacity for hate is deeply rooted and never as far from our daily lives as we would like or hope’

On Tuesday afternoon President Brown sent an email to the entire student body addressing the recent Neo-Nazi posters which were put up around BU over the weekend.

“I am heartsick that our community has to experience the hatefulness displayed by the individual or individuals who posted this material,” he wrote.

The “hateful messages and symbols” were signed by Iron March, a group who call themselves a “Global Fascist Fraternity.”

BUPD have been investigating the incident since the first posters were spotted outside FitRec and Warren Towers.

President Brown warns that action will be taken against the individual or individuals responsible for posting the “ugly placards.”

“This incident is a reminder that the human capacity for hate is deeply rooted and never as far from our daily lives as we would like or hope. We also know that the human capacity for healing and renewal in a spirit of generosity and understanding is deeply rooted.”

All of the posters have now been taken down across campus but officials are unsure if any were put up off campus.

One of the original posters, which appears to have been torn up, showed a row of swastikas and says: “Black Lives Don’t Matter.”

Claims were made yesterday that the individual who put up the flyers was a BU student. However, nothing has been confirmed yet.

One of the two users commenting on the group’s website has identified themselves as “a Neuroscience student at a well known east-coast institution,” but nothing has been confirmed to suggest this is the student who put up the flyers.
