Brown just banned hoverboards on campus

Say goodbye to those ‘self-balancing boards’

Brown Residential Life announced a new ‘interim policy’ banning the use, possession and storage of hoverboards and other flying carpet-like devices.

Senior Associate Dean of Campus Life, Rich Bova, defended the decision, declaring faulty battery and charging systems in the hoverboards are fire hazards which may pose safety risks for the boarder and his or her surroundings.

Hoverboards will continue to undergo investigation by Underwriters Laboratory, and further findings may determine whether or not the university will consider a revocation of the ban.

For now, violators of the ban will be asked to remove the devices from the building immediately.

Other college campuses like Boston University, the University of Connecticut and Temple, among others, have announced similar bans earlier this month.

For those who are deeply affected by the ban of these hover-less hoverboards, it’s time to find a new means of transportation.

And there you have it. Hover safely, folks.
