BREAKING: BU just banned hoverboards on campus

Guess you’ll have to walk now

Do you love your new hoverboard?

Too bad. BU just banned them from campus.

Boston University sent out an email this afternoon announcing the ban of hoverboards on campus.

Jean Morrison, BU’s Provost and Chief Academic Officer, and Gary Nicksa, Senior Vice President for Operations, declared the temporary ban due to the potential risk the batteries in the hoverboards pose.

There are many cases across the country of hoverboards exploding or catching on fire.

“If the issues with hoverboard batteries are resolved, we will permit them on campus and will notify you when the prohibition ends.”

Many students are already tweeting about the ban

In addition to BU, UMass, Boston College, Temple, and American University are among many other colleges to also ban the pointless device.

The good news is, if this ban really inconveniences you, there is another great option for transportation around campus.

It’s called walking.
