Sea Cliff is not your average Long Island town

It’s literally one square mile

It really is not surprising if you’ve never heard of Sea Cliff. Known for only being one square mile, Sea Cliff is a quaint town located along the shoreline of Long Island’s “Gold Coast.” This small victorian village by the sea has many admiring features that make it unique.

Anyone who lives in the North Shore community knows where to go when you want to see a sunset. And we’ve all mastered the art of taking and editing sunset masterpieces. Even if you don’t make it to the beach one day, you can always find breathtaking pictures plastered all over social media.

Sometimes we go down there to paddle board and sail, but we always go down there for the views and live music. During the summer, our community enjoys the sunset while listening to local musicians.

Try beating a scenery like this that is probably less than five minutes from your house. It’s one of the best things Sea Cliff has to offer.

Mini Mart

Every year on the first Sunday of October, Sea Cliff Avenue is blocked off and transforms into an arts and crafts exposition. White tents and tables are set up as people fill the streets looking for things that catch their eyes. The street fair and art festival features more than 200 exhibitors and food purveyors.

This year marks the 47th annual Mini Mart. This strong tradition truly celebrates the artfulness of the community. So many people support the tradition that it is a struggle to walk up and down the street because of the huge turnout.

The day is filled with pizza from Il Villaggio, drinks from The Oak Room and live music. The Mini Mart is such a big attraction, that you are bound to run into some friends and even purchase things that you love.

16 neighborhood parks

Even though Sea Cliff is only one square mile, we have several parks that have different purposes. For instance, everyone has gone to or played in a little league baseball game at Clifton Park.

Additionally, “Memorial” Sunset Park overlooks Hempstead Harbor, Long Island Sound, and the New York and Connecticut shorelines. As if the view wasn’t enough to satisfy us, local musicians perform at a concert we call Sunset Serenade on Thursdays over the summer.

The hills

Who needs to pay for a gym membership when you have hills you can walk, run or ride up? And the views are to-die-for: beautiful architecture and views of the sun hitting the water.

We are a huge dog town and if you drive through, especially during the summer, you will see residents walking their dogs.

Everyone knows each other

And without trying, as you drive through the streets, you probably recognize or know whose house is whose. Even if you don’t know someone, chances are you both have mutual friends.

Sea Cliff will always have a special place in the hearts of new and old residents. It is like no other one square mile town.
