The 10 most stunning UK uni room transformations that will put your decor to shame

Feat. framed paintings, Greek vases and a Chappell Roan shrine

Now everyone’s moved back to uni, signed up to a bunch of societies they’ll never go to and got absolutely blackout drunk in Freshers’ Week, there’s only one important thing left to do this term. Not your actual degree, obviously. It’s time to transform your glorified shoebox into somewhere actually nice, or at least fit for human habitation. To get you inspired, here are the 10 most stunning and vibey UK uni room transformations so far this year.

Note: you might need a lot of time and Blu Tack.

1. More lights than an IKEA showroom

This student worked wonders with her dreary room at the University of Plymouth. The solar lamp and multicoloured lights make the plain white walls so much for fun. She’s made the most of what’s already in the room by sticking cute posters on the wardrobe and covering every inch of the pinboard with cute pics. I dread to think how long it took.

2. Heaven for Percy Jackson fangirls

@jessicasulsh

Just moved in for my final year!! Let me know what you would do differently if you had this room 🙂 #roomtransformation #university #classics #booktok #autumn

This Classics student at the University of Exeter had a pretty amazing room to start with, but she’s made it even better. The uni accommodation gods blessed her with this stunning window. She filled it with vibey books and ancient inspired decor, so now the room is basically a temple to ancient Greece. I hope she doesn’t go off her degree any time soon.

3. Your favourite room transformation’s favourite room transformation

This room at the University of Oxford comes with a witchy brick fireplace… so of course this student made it into a shrine to Chappell Roan. Truly femininomenonal. This whole room is basically a chapel (see what I did there?) to Gen Z girl culture and I love it so much.

4. Very artsy and sophisticated prints

I don’t think I’m cool enough to go into this room. Instead of filling her pinboard with really random photos and cards, this student at the University of Lincoln has carefully picked out prints and postcards which look really swish together. The mini whiteboard is such a good shout. I bet it’s so handy to leave reminders on (or for your friends to leave funny messages on). What a terrific environment to binge Gilmore Girls in.

5. The wall art is pure art

Is this person an interior design student or something? Because every one of these UK uni room transformations absolutely slays. Making different shapes out of the photos on your walls so that they all make a design in themselves is such a clever idea.

6. Y2K on a whole new level

uni room transformation!!! im so proud of how its turned out 🥹💋💕💋 #roommakeover #university #2000s #fyp #dormtour

♬ Taste – Sabrina Carpenter

This uni room originally had even less personality than unbuttered toast. I don’t think anyone could make that criticism of the end result. This room is somehow more 2000s than the acutal 2000s were.

7. Only in Cambridge

This history of art student has basically made her room into a mini art gallery. This room in Downing College at the University of Cambridge costs a steep £210, but it comes with French doors onto a patio, a giant ensuite bathroom and a period fireplace. The student has bravely hung up framed pictures to make the room feel even more sophisticated. I am not enough of an adult to live in there.

8. This room is a girls’ girl

This room at Leeds Beckett University was small, dark and drab. But this student transformed it into girlycore heaven. There’s so much pink that Barbie could move straight in. I’m also very impressed by how many shoes she owns.

9. So colour co-ordinated

This student at the University of Nottingham used velcro command strips and White Tack to stick all that stuff to the walls without being fined her life’s savings. This room is so picture perfect that it looks generated by AI.

10. A miniature jungle on the desk

This second year uni room has more plants than most UK uni campuses do I’m also loving the Jellycats on the bed because it’s a scientific fact that Jellycats make everything better.
