How old the Young Sheldon cast were when the show started, compared to their ages now

The first season of Young Sheldon aired back in 2017 and looking at the ages of the cast, some of them were super young when it started but are all grown up now. The show has now aired it’s final season and ran over a span of seven years – nearly a decade! So obviously all the cast are considerably older now than when the show had its debut.

The youngest cast members who were literal children when it started are now comfortably in their mid teens and one of them has even become a parent – yes, they really are old enough now! Whilst the oldest cast member has just entered their 70s. So, here’s a run down of how old the Young Sheldon cast were when the show started compared to their ages now.

Iain Armitage

Age when show started: 8

Iain Armitage is the show’s youngest cast member and was only eight years old when Young Sheldon first aired in 2017 nearly seven years ago.

Raegan Revord

Age when show started: 9

Raegan Revord is actually seven months older than Iain Armitage who plays her on screen twin brother and is now 16 years old but was nine when the show aired.

Montanna Jordan

Age when show started: 14

Georgia Cooper is four years older than his younger twin siblings and in the final season we see him celebrate his 18th birthday but in real life, Montanna Jordan has just turned 21 (and just become a father!) but was 14 years old at the show’s conception.

Lance Barber

Age when show started: 44

Lance Barber plays the patriarch of the Cooper family and is currently 50 years old.

Zoe Perry

Age when show started: 33

Zoe Perry is exactly 10 years younger than Lance Barber who player her on screen husband and is now 40 years old but was 33 when the show had its debut.

Annie Potts

Age when show started: 64

Annie Potts, who plays the fan favourite Meemaw, is the oldest member of the Young Sheldon cast and was 64 years old when the show came out. She’s now 71.

Emily Osment

Age when show started: 29

Emily only joined the cast in the fifth season of the show which aired in 2021 when she was 29 years old. She originally joined as just a reoccurring part but by the sixth season her character had become a main role.

Jim Parsons

Age when show started: 44

I actually don’t understand how Jim Parsons is now 51 years old and he’s been on our screens in the role of Sheldon Cooper for nearly two decades now. He was 44 when Young Sheldon came out in 2017 but was only 34 when The Big Bang Theory was released in 2007, exactly 10 years prior.
