He didn’t actually die, so what really happened to Lamar Odom in that terrifying Nevada accident?
He ended up in a coma for three days
In October 2015, Lamar Odom was found unconscious at the Love Ranch, a legal brothel in Crystal, Nevada, after what was later reported to be a drug overdose.
The former NBA star was rushed to hospital in critical condition and placed on life support, with doctors initially uncertain if he would survive.
In the years since, Odom has revealed the full extent of the medical crisis, saying he suffered 12 strokes and six heart attacks while in a coma.
The incident marked a major turning point in his life, but questions have lingered about what really happened that night.

By 2015, Lamar wasn’t just “Khloé Kardashian’s husband,” he was a man dealing with a lot of unresolved pain.
His marriage to Khloé Kardashian had effectively broken down, and although their divorce wasn’t final yet, emotionally, things were already over.
He’s since spoken pretty openly about how dark that period was. There was grief, loneliness, and ongoing struggles with substance use, none of which started overnight.
The brothel trip wasn’t some random wild decision; it was more like an escape. A way to check out, to not think, to avoid everything that was unravelling back in his real life.

Lamar arrived at the Love Ranch in Crystal, Nevada, and initially, everything seemed normal. But on October 13, 2015, he was found unconscious in his room.
During Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom, Khloé Kardashian explained that when she found out the news of Lamar’s overdose, she was “screaming.”
A news reporter, during the documentary, says: “He was found around 3:15 by two of the girls at the Love Ranch and reportedly, according to a police report, he had liquid coming out of his nose, his mouth, and he was unconscious.”
When he was turned onto his left side, Lamar was said to have “expelled.” The documentary outlines how he told girls who worked there that he had taken cocaine before arriving at the brothel.
“That would have been two days prior,” explained the Love Ranch
“The girl who had been with him said ‘he also took these’ and held up a packet.”
The packet contained sexual-performance supplements. And when asked how many Lamar took, she said: “Probably 12.”
The advised dosage was “one every 24 hours.”
Shortly after, he became unresponsive, and he was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.
What followed was genuinely terrifying. Lamar fell into a three-day coma, and when he eventually woke up, the damage was severe.
He later revealed he had suffered 12 strokes and six heart attacks.
The recovery wasn’t quick or easy. He had to relearn basic functions, deal with memory issues, and rebuild his physical strength over months of rehabilitation.
And through it all, Khloé stayed by his side. She said: “This is my husband, through sickness and health, I have to be there for him. I have to show up for him, and I was going to do everything I could to make sure that he would have the best fighting chance.”
Lamar said it was a “humbling time in life,” as he “couldn’t hold his bowels,” and that Khloé had to help change his diapers.
“You learn a lot about yourself and what you can endure mentally, physically, and emotionally,” he explained in an interview with Ryan Ward.
Lamar added: “All my doctors say, like, I’m a walking miracle.”
In more recent years, Lamar has complicated the story further.
He’s said he believes something may have been put in his drink and has even suggested the incident wasn’t entirely accidental, per YardBarker. That said, the official findings still point to a drug overdose.
