Did Connor ever get the law passed that he fought so hard for on Love on the Spectrum?
He was trying to get Rio's Law passed
Connor has been spending a lot of time fighting for Rio’s Law to be passed by the courts in Georgia, and we get to see a lot of it play out on Love on the Spectrum. Rio’s Law involves creating a special license plate to improve safety during law enforcement interactions.
The legislation, which he supported at the Capitol, also includes training for first responders on handling traffic stops involving autistic individuals. And guess what? Connor helped get Rio’s Law passed, as he’s been advocating for it since the beginning of this year.
Connor has spoken about his own experiences with sensory overload and the need for better understanding during police encounters. With a vote count of 169-0, Connor wrote: “I am so proud to be a voice for my community. The autism community deserves safety.”

Connor’s mum has revealed she’s “so proud of him” for getting the law passed, while his brother said he’s “doing big things”. He spoke on the mic, describing the law as an “important piece of legislation” and introduced himself as a “proud Georgian who has autism”.
He said that Rio’s Law develops a better understanding between “the neurodivergent community and professionals sworn to protect” and added: “While I do not drive, I am often a passenger. As an autistic man, I understand what sensory overload and dysregulation feel like.”

“In moments of dysregulation, I may avoid eye contact, make sudden movements, or struggle to communicate effectively. My anxiety and behaviours might prove peculiar and I may act suspiciously. If a police officer approached me, I’d think, ‘What have I done?'” he said.
