Kim Kardashian might have seemingly endless supplies of wealth, but she has rather an odd habit of using her excessive money to buy other celebrity’s clothes and accessories, and usually for people who have passed away.
So, after Kim openly admitted that she’s “obsessed” with online auctions, let’s have a look at all the times she’s worn, and sometimes ruined, some truly iconic historical clothes.
Princess Diana’s cross necklace
Kim purchased Princess Diana’s Attallah Cross necklace at a Sotheby’s auction for $200,000 in 2023, and has worn it on a few choice occasions since.
Marilyn Monroe’s iconic ‘Happy Birthday Mr President’ dress
This outfit has to be the most famous and most controversial choice that Kim Kardashian has ever worn, as she donned Marilyn Monroe’s $4.8 million dress to the Met Gala.
She was accused of damaging the famous dress, as she admitted she’d “begged” Ripley’s to let her wear the item. Kim was the first person to have worn the dress since Marilyn in 1962 but was unable to zip it up when it came to putting it on.
She told vogue at the time:” I’m extremely respectful to the dress and what it means to American history,’ she said. ‘I would never want to sit in it or eat in it or have any risk of any damage to it, and I won’t be wearing the kind of body makeup I usually do.”
Elizabeth Taylor’s bangles, worth $64,900
Kim also bought a set of Elizabeth Taylor’s bangles for $64,900 at auction for herself, and also got her brother Rob some of Elvis Presley’s rings, which went for just over $15k for the pair.
Jackie Kennedy’s watch
Kim’s most recent acquisition is Jackie Kennedy’s Cartier Tank Watch, which she wore whilst visiting Donald Trump. She told Vogue: “It gave me some power: let’s get in there and get this done!”
She bid $379,500 for the watch, which is engraved with Stas to Jackie, as the watched was gifted to Jackie by her brother-in- law Stanislaw Radziwill.
