Erm, it turns out this influencer who went viral at Wimbledon isn’t actually real?!
I'm genuinely terrified right now
It’s fairly common at this point to see a seemingly endless amount of influencers pop on your feed, but would you ever think that any of them actually weren’t real?
Well, as it happens, an influencer by the name of Mia Zelu recently went viral for being revealed to be a fake influencer, because she’s actually AI.
Yep, that’s right, despite appearing to have attended Wimbledon, alongside stunning locations such as Greece, Italy and France, it turns out the influencer is completely fake and is AI.
And with over 150k followers, including a lot of famous faces, it seems like a lot of people were fooled into thinking she was an actual person.
The creator behind the fake influencer is currently unknown, however the account does disclose in the bio that it’s “influencer AI” and describes herself as a “digital storyteller.” Whatever that means.
It seems like Mia’s creator is very on top of what’s trending at the moment, as only yesterday the “influencer” posted pictures that made it appear as though she’d attended *that* Coldplay concert.
She wrote: “Everyone saw the moment on the screen at the concert. Who among us would survive if our worst moments played out in public? What matters most is what happens after the lights go out.
“We should acknowledge that something was completely wrong, without casting the whole person aside. Forgiveness doesnβt mean pretending it didnβt hurt. It means we believe people can change, if theyβre willing to face the truth.”
It’s very much giving a ChatGPT caption.
But her creator does seem to be really trying to pretend that Mia is in fact real, giving her story highlights of her travels around the world and even including a Q&A section, which includes answers about her workout routine and diet plans.
Clearly AI can’t skip leg day either.
It looks like her page is a mix of AI generated content and actual real world videos, with some of the travel videos and pictures from across the USA, Spain and Canada being real, although notably all of them don’t include Mia’s face.
There also seems to be a monetisation aspect involved, as there is a notice in the bio that signposts towards “management and collaborations” however the email that was below has been removed.
I’m sure as AI progresses and this becomes the norm it won’t have any worrying impacts on us as a society at all…
