Iain making jokes about axed Islanders is par for the course on Love Island USA.
He’s no stranger to extending his comedic talents to the show’s hilarious voiceover.
But, it’s safe to say people were already hurting when Jeremiah Brown was booted from the villa, the last thing they needed was for jokes to be made at his expense.
When Jeremiah left the show, Iain joked that Jeremiah would return to the show as a waiter for Nic Vansteenberghe and Olandria Carthen‘s date.
He apologised for the ‘misjudgment’
Iain spends hours on end writing the voiceover scripts for Love Island. At this point, he’s a pro at making jokes at the right times. But, it seems even he can get it wrong.
After the “waiter” comment about Jeremiah, he apologised in an interview with E! News.
The Love Island USA narrator said: “I’ll be honest, it was, perhaps, a misjudgment by me…”
He added how he broke an “unwritten rule,” with the move: “I genuinely thought people would appreciate the nod to him, because we very rarely talk about it, but if you think about it, it’s an unwritten rule that I never really joke about the islanders once they’ve gone.
“I’ll maybe do a joke as they’re leaving. So it’s a big deal.”
Iain clarified that his joke actually came from a nice place, rather than a “diss” to Jeremiah:
“It was a genuine statement of love that I mentioned Jeremiah after he’d already left the show, I thought people would be, ‘Oh, that’s funny’. He was such an intrinsic part of the show. Some people did take it as such, and then some people sadly didn’t, and I apologise to those people.”
