America’s Sweethearts’ Dayton finally breaks her silence on why she didn’t get into DCC
So gutted for her
Dayton, Shelly’s daughter, has finally spoken out on why she didn’t get into the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (DCC) team, after America’s Sweethearts shared her tryouts journey. She desperately attempted to get in, but has now said she’s “not wanted there”.
Dayton finally speaks out on not getting into DCC
Dayton made several attempts to try out for the DCC team, but she didn’t get in. Her mother, Shelly, used to be a DCC for five seasons, but the same path wasn’t quite carved out for her. At one point, Dayton reached the finals and even made it to training camp.
She recently said: “It wasn’t in the cards for me, but I’m proud of how much I’ve grown. I feel it’s important to note I did EVERYTHING they asked of me and tried my absolute best to fit their mold. I’m not wanted there and I’m hoping this takes me to where I truly belong!”
When she was first cut from DCC, Dayton said, “I don’t think that getting cut is the end of my dream. I just think that it wasn’t my time, so hopefully I’ll get that memorisation in check next year and I’ll be wearing that uniform next fall.”
She continues to be a dancer since not getting in

Despite the setbacks, Dayton continues to practice dance and cheerleading. In mid-2024, she revealed that she’s spent the year “healing and working hard,” and still appears on America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders season two to give an update.
Currently a rookie, she said, “Most of the pressure that I felt the last two timed I auditioned came from my mum. And this time, I feel like I’m doing it purely for myself. If I make the team, my mum would be so ecstatic. She would be so proud of me following her footsteps.”
