Tanner’s mum opens up on the Love on the Spectrum scene that made her feel ‘very uncomfortable’
She was left feeling 'bad' about the situation
Tanner has cemented himself as a viewer favourite during season three of Love on the Spectrum; however, his mum, Nicci, has opened up about a moment that made her “very uncomfortable.”
During an interview with NBC News, Nicci revealed the Love on the Spectrum scene that left her “feeling bad” for Tanner.
She explained the moment in question was when Tanner went on a blind date with Shyann at a goat farm.

Whilst the pair shared an affinity for animals, it was clear their personalities didn’t match up as compared to the outgoing and talkative Tanner, Shyann was more reserved.
Nicci explained that she could really feel for Tanner during his Love on the Spectrum date, admitting: “To me, that date was very uncomfortable, because I know him.
“I felt bad for both of them — I think she had a bit of stage fright and didn’t know what to say, and he felt like it was his responsibility to carry the conversation, but didn’t know how to draw her out.”

She continued: “Everybody sees Tanner as the happy, joyful guy. But when you’re autistic, anxiety is always there — and he was really struggling. I was ready for the goat date to be over. It just wasn’t clicking. But he learned from it, and he did a good job.”
Whilst Shyann and Tanner ended up agreeing they would be better as friends, he hit it off much more with Callie, and whilst they seemed to be staying as friends during the end of the season, Nicci hinted there might be more between them.

She explained: “Callie is an open chapter,” revealing that the two families recently gathered for dinner and had a “lovely time.”
She added: “There was a lot of chemistry. They bounce off each other very well, and let’s just see where it goes.
“They’ve been coming to see us, and we’re planning to visit them next. They have a pool and horses, and Callie wants to show Tanner her world.”
