Connor has just emotionally opened up about why he looks different on Love on the Spectrum
There's an important reason for his transformation
Connor has revealed why he looks so different on Love on the Spectrum! Everyone noticed how old pictures of the Netflix cast member looked pretty different, and he’s now explained the reason behind his unintentional transformation. He was diagnosed with Graves disease several years ago, which led to his appearance dramatically changing.

Connor randomly lost 10lb out of nowhere and was suffering from migraines before realizing he needed to go to the doctor. He was then diagnosed with Graves disease, as revealed on Connor and his mother’s shared YouTube channel. It is an autoimmune disorder where the immune system mistakenly attacks the thyroid gland, causing it to produce too much thyroid hormone and leading to hyperthyroidism.
Graves disease causes overactivity of the thyroid gland, which can result in a range of symptoms including rapid heart rate, weight loss, nervousness, and eye problems like bulging eyes. Aside from the diagnosis, he’s also been keeping fit at the gym with his mother, and shaved off his beard from a few years ago, which has led to his transformation.
In a Car Rides with Connor episode with his mum, Lise explained how Connor is losing his hair but that they are still waiting for answers. Ahead of his blood test and ultrasound a couple of weeks ago, Connor said, “I hope it’s nothing serious. I’ve given up a lot of blood. I have good news: My heart and my thyroid are going in the right direction. I’ve gained more weight – a couple of pounds.”
He was only recently diagnosed with Graves disease
Connor only recently found out he has Graves disease, which he was diagnosed with two weeks ago. They’re now planning to visit an eye doctor, with Connor saying, “My numbers are going in the right direction, but we’re not out of the forest yet.” His mother said, “We’re getting a grip on things,” explaining Connor is taking medication for his eyes.
He said, “I know I should be taking medication religiously but I don’t always remember. I’m feeling fine, that’s the point.” When his mother suggested setting an alarm on his phone to take medication, he refused and said it would be “too annoying.” Connor also has seasonal allergies, which causes his eyes to feel irritated.
His mother said, “I understand Graves disease has a correlation to eye disease, and can impact the eye. So we are addressing that, that’s our next stop in all the chaos. Got to get the ultrasound done, then the eye doctor, then I feel like we’ll be in a good position.”
