After The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke and Homelander actor Antony Starr mocked Elon Musk online, the tech billionaire has once again responded after branding the series “pathetic.” The Prime Video show had always been a satire on modern America, but the past couple of seasons have grown increasingly political. In the season five finale, which aired on Wednesday, May 20th, a new side character named Gunter Van Ellis appeared to take shots at Musk himself (he’s the world’s richest man, has 17 kids, and is an amateur astronaut). Conservative influencer Kangmin Lee took to X this week to criticise the show, sharing shots of Homelander grovelling in the finale. “The show writers turned Homelander into a Trump analogue, and this is how they choose to end The Boys,” Lee wrote. “This entire show was just a deranged sexual humiliation fantasy projected onto Trump.” Musk responded to the feedback with one word: “Pathetic.” The Elon Musk and Eric Kripke feud continues Kripke caught wind of the review, and quickly responded, “OMG this is his review of what @TheBoysTV did to Homelander, I’ll never get a better review ever.” What’s more, both Antony Starr and Hughie actor Jack Quaid both reacted to the “pathetic” comment with laughter. On the other side of the fence, one wrote, “He literally stayed up all night and this is the comeback he came up with.” Another said, “I don’t understand, did Elon musk think Homelander was being written as anything else but a pathetic loser who is nothing without his powers? Because his end was pretty straight forward and expected.” He literally stayed up all night and this is the comeback he came up with pic.twitter.com/tJdVcQCiK8 — evan loves worf (@esjesjesj) May 22, 2026 “Why are MAGA men so pathologically obsessed with cuckoldry?” added a third. The exchange isn’t over, either. Now, four hours after his previous post, Musk wrote, “I’m not upset, just remarking that the ending sounds fake and gay.” Kripke has caught wind of his tweets and he’s again finding the whole thing hilarious. “HAHAHAHAH. He’s posting. MULTIPLE TIMES. Also I have notes on his joke writing. #TheBoys.” HAHAHAHAH. He's posting. MULTIPLE TIMES. In the meantime, another commenter has summed up why the overall criticism about Homelander’s ending doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. “The people upset about how Homelander met his fate are the same people who think he was a hero. Someone to be idolized,” they said. “He was the villain the whole time and even if he wasn’t a MAGA allegory from day one, he’s still a villain. It’s like idolizing Lex Luthor or the Joker.” For all the latest film and TV updates and hot takes, like our Facebook page. Featured image credit: Prime Video/X Post navigation Next story
