In the space of just two episodes, Faye may have replaced Cassie as the most-loathed Euphoria character. Last time we checked, Faye seemed to genuinely be Rue’s friend. Now all of a sudden she’s getting Nazi tattoos? Euphoria season three episode seven ended on yet another cliffhanger, when Faye screamed for Wayne and ratted out Rue. The actor who portrays Faye in Euphoria, Chloe Cherry, has explained in detail what Faye was actually thinking during that episode. Faye doesn’t betray Rue because of some devious masterplan. She’s not trying to get the better of anybody. Chloe Cherry reckons that Faye behaves strangely because she’s working towards a different goal. She wants to get away from everybody else in Euphoria. Fair enough. Chloe told Glamour: “She’s suddenly realising that she doesn’t have any friends on this earth. She just freaks out and is just like: ‘What the f**k has been going on my whole life? I need to be away from all of you f**king people.’” She continued: “Faye is trying so hard to get out of the drug world that I think she’ll desperately do anything that she can find, even if it might not be the best decision for her. She’s willing to put up with anything and just do anything that she can just to not be trapped in this anymore.” Shhh(Image via HBO) This explains why Chloe kept switching up her loyalties in the latest episode. It’s not just about Wayne and Rue, but about her own “survival”. Chloe Cherry explained in a behind-the-scenes video for HBO: “When they’re first opening the safe, Faye really feels like, ‘Oh my god, like, this is it! I’m going to become a millionaire, and I’ll never have to worry about anything again!’ “She just basically lashes out at Rue by waking Wayne up. Faye is in survival mode.” So, it seems as if Chloe was up for helping Rue and working for Alamo when she thought they would provide enough money for her to get away this life of crime. When it became clear the safe didn’t have money in, and Faye wasn’t going to become a millionaire, Faye figured that being loyal to Wayne and Laurie would be better for her “survival”. RUN(Image via HBO) Chloe does reckon Faye is legitimately in love with Wayne, though. She sees Faye as a “hopeless romantic” prone to “falling into a relationship way quicker” than is sensible. She told Glamour: “It starts with just an idea of her and Rue being like: ‘Maybe we can get those keys off his belt.’ But once Faye actually starts talking to Wayne, I think she really does fall in love with him.” Yikes.
