*Warning: Major spoilers ahead for Euphoria season three episode seven* The minute Rue (Zendaya) checked Angel (Priscilla Delgado) into that “rehab” centre, we knew something was up (the receptionist’s dirty nails told us all we needed to know). A leading theory was that she was killed and harvested for organs. But Euphoria season three episode seven, ‘Rain or Shine’, just dropped the biggest clue as to what really happened, and it’s somehow worse. Angel was first introduced in episode two of the third chapter as Rue’s new love interest and a dancer at the Silver Slipper strip club, where she quickly became a fan favourite. Credit: HBO But after another dancer Tish overdosed (kick-starting the war between owner Alamo and drug lord Laurie), Angel fell into a drug-fuelled depression. Eventually, Alamo (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) sends her to a rehab facility, getting Rue to take her – and we haven’t seen or heard from her since. There were two leading theories: she was killed and used for body parts or she was trafficked. Now, it appears we have our answer. Euphoria just heavily implied Angel was trafficked Credit: HBO A rather telling conversation takes place at the bonfire when Rue heads to Laurie’s (Martha Kelly) ranch. She pretends she’s there to help save them, claiming Alamo is trying to kill them. The truth is, she’s there to retrieve the money they stole from Alamo, but unbeknownst to him, Rue’s actually secretly working with the DEA (although Maddy lets this slip later on). Later that night, while sitting around the bonfire, Harley (James Landry Hébert) and Wayne (Toby Wallace) suggest they should punish Rue for “treason”, throwing around the idea of cutting her eyelids off. Laurie then interjects, “Or we could do what Alamo does to his girls and sell her.” One of the guys says, “Give her some DD’s and a bath,” to which Laurie adds, “Paralyse her tongue with Botox.” A horrified Rue asks, “Is that what Alamo does?” Laurie replies, “What did you think he does?” This heavily implies that Angel had this exact thing happen to her. If that weren’t confirmation enough, right at the end of Euphoria season three episode seven, Faye (Chloe Cherry) helps Rue retrieve the money. But when they open the safe, all they find is a pile of women’s driver’s licenses – including Angel’s. Credit: HBO Traffickers will often confiscate IDs, passports, and other personal documents to stop victims from escaping or proving their identity, effectively trapping them under their control. As for the tongue paralysis, while it appears to be fictionalised for the HBO show, experts and trafficking survivors have previously spoken about perpetrators using drugs, sedation, cosmetic procedures, and physical abuse to keep victims compliant and unable to seek help. In Euphoria, the line implies Alamo deliberately prevents the girls from speaking clearly or identifying themselves. Sadly, Angel suffered for simply trying to survive. And her fate doesn’t bode well for Maddy (Alexa Demie), who is now indebted to Alamo after he helped her and Cassie (Sydney Sweeney) save Nate (not that it was worth it in the end). As one fan predicted about the season three finale, “Rue most likely dies. Faye is probably getting knocked out. Alamo avoids getting caught (‘cause of Maddy’s comment). “Maddy and Cassie are left to be in debt forever to Alamo basically (could turn out like Angel’s situation).” For all the latest film and TV updates and hot takes, like our Facebook page.
