Rejoicify!! Here are all the Wicked deleted scenes in one place for you to obsess over

If the nearly three hours of Elphaba and Fiyero weren’t enough for you in Wicked, Sony has now released a Glinda bubble full of deleted scenes that range from “cute” to “Why the hell wasn’t that in the film?”

Wicked is now available to rent and buy through your favourite video platform, whether that be Amazon Video or YouTube. Unfortunately, we are still yet to hear about when the film will be available to stream for free, but it’s looking like a Peacock release.

To keep your Wicked taste buds satiated until 2025’s Wicked: Part Two, which has been renamed Wicked: For Good, here are all the released deleted scenes in chronological order.

1. Pfannee and ShenShen meet Glinda in one deleted scene

Oz’s resident gays, Pfannee and ShenShen, seemed to be instant friends with Ariana Grande’s Glinda. However, in a deleted scene we get to see them meeting for the first time. She seemed to barely remember them – awkward!

There was nothing wrong with Jonathan Bailey’s entrance in Wicked but it could have been made even more perfect if they’d kept this scene in the film. You see the buzz surrounding his arrival and it perfectly illustrates why he’s so – in the words of Glinda – popular.

I will say nothing else about this scene besides the fact that there’s no such thing as too much Ariana Grande hair-flipping. Someone make one of those 40-hour loop YouTube videos.

We know that Fiyero and Elphaba’s love story will come to a climax in this year’s part two, but the first film was severely lacking the touching moments between Cynthia Erivo and Jonathan Bailey. Now I know why, it was deleted!

The conspiracy theory that Glinda and Elphaba are lesbian lovers would have gained another piece of evidence if this scene had been kept in. After Elphaba and Fiyero rescue the lion cub, Glinda admits to feeling left behind. She wasn’t annoyed with Fiyero but was upset that her bestie chose him over her.

Okay, I’m sold. They are in love.

6. There was a scene with Elphaba’s dad, thankfully they deleted it

As much as I love Glinda and Madame Morrible coming to Elphaba’s defence in front of her dad, I’m not losing sleep over not seeing that worm man on the big screen more.

7. Boq crosses a line in another Wicked deleted scene

What to say about Boq that hasn’t already been screamed on TikTok? In this deleted scene, he had the audacity to compare Elphaba pining for Fiyero to him leading Nessarose on. Shush Ethan Slater, you got Glinda in real life.

In this scene, we get a better look at the swanky train Elphaba and Glinda ride to Emerald City, complete with drinks, naps, and a lot of cuddling.

9. The Emerald City scene added some exposition

Admittedly, I’m less annoyed about this deleted scene being removed because it served only to bridge earlier scenes with the musical performance from Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth.

The moment we see Glinda running away from the flying monkeys is incredibly tense and difficult to watch. Thankfully, this deleted scene shows just how silly it looked in real life.
