For months, people have questioned whether upcoming I’m A Celeb campmate Maura Higgins is dating Pete Wicks. I am here to set the record straight.

Pete Wicks and Maura Higgins have shared a snog or two

Maura and Pete are both at the height of their game at the moment, with the latter currently hanging on by a thread on this year’s Strictly Come Dancing. Seriously, can tattoos and cheeky charm get him all the way to the finale?

Maura herself has had a busy few weeks as she jetted off to Las Vegas ahead of her I’m A Celeb debut in tonight’s episode with Reverend Richard Coles.

The Maura X Pete collaboration reportedly began back in August as they enjoyed an intimate outdoor lunch at the Broadwick Soho Hotel. When Pete was announced as a contestant on Strictly a few days later, Maura commented on his post, “I know what those hips can do. PROUD OF YOU!!!!!!!!”

Fast forward to the Pride of Britain awards in October, Maura and Pete were pictured sharing a steamy kiss at the Red Bar of London’s Grosvenor House Hotel. Naturally, this sent people into a frenzy on Twitter as they wondered if Maura and Pete would be the UK’s new IT couple.

In early November they were pictured enjoying several date nights in London, adding to speculation as many people assumed the dates were their final linkup before Maura headed to Australia to begin filming.

A source told The Sun: “After they’d sat there for a while Maura went in for a long kiss with Pete. It wasn’t the kind of kiss you’d give a friend, it was very passionate.”

The couple were reportedly “all over each other” as Pete sat with his arm around Maura. They eventually left the terrace to continue their evening at the hotel’s swanky flute bar.

Maura sets the record straight

Maura has never shied away from speaking about her love life, with past public boyfriends including stuntman Bobby Holland Hanton, Giovanni Pernice, Chris Taylor, and Joey Essex. Ahead of her I’m A Celeb debut, Maura teased to The Mirror, “I mean, I’ve been on a date with many people.”

“I’m not [dating]. Where have you heard that? I date but I’m very much single,” she doubled down. “Honestly, I just think the interest in my dating life is so boring. People go on dates. Like everyone goes on dates, but then it suddenly becomes that I am in a relationship with this person, or that person.”

There you have it folks. Though you might be disappointed that Maura Higgins isn’t dating Pete Wicks, that gives her more room to mingle with her I’m A Celeb castmates soon enough.
