There was a conference on a private island about how to stop Donald Trump

The CEO of Apple was there

Conferences on private islands sound like the plot of James Bond – overblown and fantastical.

On the other hand, we now live in a world in which Donald Trump is very likely going to be the Republican candidate for the White House. Everything is overblown and fantastical now, in a really dark, unpleasant way.

Therefore perhaps we should be relieved that Silicon Valley entrepreneurs including Apple CEO Tim Cook, Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, and Larry Page, the CEO of Alphabet (nee Google) apparently met on a private island off the coast of the United States to discuss the Trump problem, according to a report in the Huffington Post.

On the other hand, perhaps we should be very, very afraid that the talking point of this year’s American Enterprise Institute’s World Forum was how to stop Donald Trump from getting the Republican nomination for president.

There are no journalists allowed at the conference, so “main topic” cannot be qualified, per se. But apparently someone called him a “spectre” at the feast, and another person presented data to confirm that the public do not consider Trump to be “presidential”. Let’s hope that’s true.

Otherwise we might all have to move to a private island, in space.
