Eliminate The Hate at UVA silently protests in front of Old Cabell

They held signs that read ‘We will not stand for hate’ and ‘I am not a terrorist’

After two weeks of an unusual amount of hate speech around grounds which included islamophobic and anti-semitic graffiti, Eliminate The Hate at UVA is working to end this sudden rise of bias related incidents.

On November 7th, a large group of students stood on the steps of Old Cabell Hall in silence. They held signs that read “We will not stand for hate,” “I am not a faggot,” “I am not a terrorist” and “hate speech is not free speech.”

They encouraged students to grab a sign and stand in silence with them or sign a pledge to eliminate hate speech on our grounds.
