Meet the UNC sophomore who bought carolfolt.com, now the best page on the internet

‘I love Carol Folt – what better way to celebrate her than with some weird haikus?’

Shea Stanley, a UNC sophomore studying Computer Science and Theatre, was at the library one day when the inspiration to make carolfolt.com struck her. The website, titled “C. Folt Hammer Time,” is a collection of haikus and hilarious photos dedicated to Carolina’s very own chancellor.

Since it’s officially the best page on the internet, we sat down with Shea to ask how the hell she beat the rest of us to buying this legendary domain name.

What inspired you to make carolfolt.com?

I was at the library with some friends, not doing homework, and my friend Hannah had a friend who did an internship where they told her to buy her domain name. Apparently people are “domain scalping” now. My domain name was taken, but then I looked up Carol Folt. It wasn’t taken so I just bought it.

So you just bought the domain and decided to go with it?

I bought it thinking I would make a website eventually. I figured that I could just sit on it for a while, but then I didn’t want to write my essay so I made it right away.

What made you think of dedicating the page to haikus?

Well at first it was supposed to be just “C. Folt Hammer Time” with like the hammer picture and the song, but I was worried I would get sued by the song owners, so I switched it up.

So the real question is, do you hate Carol Folt or revere her?

Oh, I love Carol Folt. What better way to celebrate her than with some weird haikus.

Has she seen the page?

I don’t know if Carol has seen it. I haven’t been contacted by the school yet, but I am still nervous that I will wake up one day to an angry email. I haven’t really told anyone that I made the page, but my friends have heard from their friends about it and they think it’s so funny because I am behind it all.

What domain names could you see yourself tackling next?

The possibilities are endless. I really need to hop on some more UNC celebrities.

Shea, we will all be waiting on that roywilliams.com. God bless the internet.
