BREAKING: Trump wins North Carolina

US Senator Burr has won re-election

One of the tightest races in the 2016 presidential election has been in North Carolina, which Donald J. Trump has won against most polls prior to November 8.

Trump was in the lead for quite a while on Tuesday night in North Carolina, but reports were not willing to call the state in his favor until almost all precincts reported.

Orange County went blue in the election, as per usual, along with Wake, Durham and Mecklenburg counties. Republicans have held onto most offices and denied victories to Democratic candidates all night.

Avid Hillary Clinton supporter and first time voter Margaux, 19, said upon hearing the result: “I am utterly disappointed in this state. Obama worked way too hard for eight years for us to give ourselves up to a Trump administration built on fear mongering and hate. I came to NC with the promise of it being better and more eye-opening than the Republican state I was raised in. And now I have lost all hope that this could be a state of progress.”
