We asked what you’re most thankful for at UNC

We’re obviously all thankful for Alpine bagels

Thanksgiving is on its way. That means turkey, cranberry sauce and way too much mashed potatoes are in the foreseeable future.

Many families have traditions, like going around and saying what they are most thankful for from the past year. In this fashion, I asked what students were most thankful for at UNC as if we were all at one large table together.

Kay, sophomore, Art History and Archeology

“How beautiful the campus is in the fall and how nice and helpful all the staff are.”

Spice, junior, Computer Science and Asian Studies

“The tree outside of Phillips that you can climb and hang a hammock in.”

Micah, senior, Public Policy and Economics

“That this is where I met my girlfriend, Sarah.”

Jay, junior, Mathematics and Economics

“How friendly people are here.”

Austin, sophomore, Economics and Psychology

“All the academic resources and the great environment.”

Sarah, freshman, English

“That it really feels like a family.”

Tate, sophomore, Psychology

“Being able to go to school and get an education and being able to go to a good school. A lot of people don’t have that opportunity.”

Leigh, sophomore, Mathematics

“Alpine bagels.”

Sarah, junior, Elementary Education

“The support that the education department gives and the community…and the free cupcakes that the union gives.”

Sarah, freshman, Biology

“The atmosphere of friendship just in general.”

Most of you seem to be thankful for the people of this university and the opportunities it provides.

So, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, think about what you’re most thankful for at UNC, whether it’s as simple as your friends or as specific as a bench in the quad.
