Over 100 students and faculty members were in attendance
The Real Silent Sam Coalition held a rally Friday morning on the steps of UNC’s South Building, the home of the university’s administration. The rally was held in support of Mizzou and the students of color facing racism there, as well as here.
Hundreds of people showed up at the 11am rally – students, faculty and administrators alike, including Chancellor Carol Folt and Vice Chancellor Winston Crisp.
Each of the participating RSSC members recited a powerful speech to stand in solidarity with students and people of color in general.
Rally-goers also participated in a moment of silence.
After members of RSSC spoke, they opened up the mic first to black women and then to non-black people of color. The rally lasted for about an hour, ending around noon.
