Two ex-UConn students arrested in Carriage arson case

One of them posted his $500,000 bail

State police have arrested former UConn students David Kuhn, 19, and Logan Rama, 20, for lighting three cars on fire outside a Carriage apartment on October 11.

Kuhn and Rama weren’t just trying to get Carriage “lit”: it happened after they were kicked out of a party.

As they were shown the door, one of the two reportedly said: “It would be a shame if something were to happen to this place” to a crowd of 50 drunk partygoers who were probably too busy listening Fetty Wap’s Trap Queen (popular at the time).

The fire caused $34,000 in damages.

They have both been charged with first-degree arson, first-degree criminal mischief, tampering with a motor vehicle, first-degree reckless endangerment and conspiracy to commit first-degree arson.

Kuhn has posted his $500,000 bail.

According to police interviews, the two then drove to Cumberland Farms to buy gas which they used to pour on three cars and the front door of the apartment.

How two teenage boys were allowed to purchase a tank of gasoline at 1am without hassle is really a testament to the customer service of Cumbies.

The warrant for their arrest said: “Logan and [Kuhn] got out of the car and Logan took the bucket of gas and poured it over the cars and also in the grass, near the front door of apartment 5A.

“Kuhn lit the gas to start the fire, lighting it with a lighter.”

University spokesperson Stephanie Reitz said Kuhn and Rama are no longer enrolled at UConn.

She added they started attending school in the fall of 2014 and left over a year later, in the middle of last semester.

He is due back in court on January 29th.
