A Temple professor canceled class for 4/20

After a freshman had to explain what it was

Asia Kopcsándy, a Temple freshman, emailed her professor on Sunday night explaining she had to skip class on Wednesday, April 20th.

Since attendance is a grade in the class, Asia figured if she had a good reason to be absent it wouldn’t affect her grade. So she emailed her professor letting her know she would miss class for a doctor’s appointment. Thinking this would “sound suspicious because plenty of people will skip class for other reasons,” Asia backed up her story by letting her professor know she could provide a doctor’s note.

“Other reasons” obviously meaning to get high on 4/20.

Confused and curious, Asia’s professor emailed her back asking about the “other reasons” students would skip class.

“[My professor] didn’t know what 4/20 was so I asked my boyfriend if I should say something.”

Asia decided to do educate her professor the next morning before class by simply saying: “Some people like to skip on 4/20 to smoke marijuana.”

Shocked at this new information, her professor did a search and did in fact find out that 4/20 is “weed day.”

Asia told The Tab she found the whole conversation funny and was glad she decided to tell her professor.

“I couldn’t stop laughing at the response. [My professor] is hilarious.”

Shortly after, Asia headed to class and to her surprise, her professor decided to cancel class on Wednesday.

Since the email exchange Asia has posted the photos on various Facebook groups and has gained a whirlwind of likes and comments.
