21 people evacuated from apartment fire near Cook/Douglass campus

No-one was injured

21 people have been safely evacuated after a fire broke out at an apartment complex on Throop avenue.

In the midst of one of the coldest nights of the year, a fire broke out at the 84 Throop Avenue apartments in New Brunswick around 7 pm Thursday night, forcing over 20 people out their homes, according to fire officials.

While some families affected in the fire had a tougher time evacuating than others, no injuries or deaths were reported in the blaze at the three story apartment building.

The cause of the fire is still unknown and is currently under investigation.

Throop Avenue is located off of George Street in New Brunswick, only a block away from Commercial Avenue next to Rutgers Cook/Douglass Campus.
