BREAKING: Shots fired at Livingston Parking Lot 103

One perpetrator had a handgun and the other had a machete

An RU Text Alert was sent out today at 5:42pm stating that there was an active police investigation at parking lot 103 of the Livingston Campus. While it was unclear what was happening at the time, we now know what happened.

A campus e-mail alert was sent out two hours later at 8:19pm stating that the Rutgers University Police Department is investigating an aggravated assault on Livingston Campus.

The e-mail reads, “In this incident, the perpetrators engaged in an altercation inside of Lot 103. Witnesses have stated that one of the individuals was armed with a machete and the second was armed with a handgun. The individual with the handgun reportedly fired at a parked vehicle inside the lot before fleeing in a black SUV towards Road 1 and away from campus. The description of the perpetrators is limited at this time.”

The perpetrators are still at large and the RUPD is urging anyone with information to step forward.
