Another weekly roundup

Because you haven’t checked your email in four days

The only things that happen during the week of Thanksgiving break usually include angry students furiously completing assignments on the one hand, and happy students moseying on home for their first holiday since the beginning of the semester.

Well, not this year.

This last week we had an interview with a fitness queen, the Black and Brown Coalition’s list of demands, the best tacos in NYC and one of the .

Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving: the strange day when dinner begins at four, political views are shared freely between family members and irony is momentarily suspended in favor of earnestness.

Besides the whole Jesus’s birthday thing not much seems to distinguish it from Christmas.

We had a few international students explain their confusions and perspectives on the holiday.

Oh it also got incredibly cold.

Like, so cold.

Like, the air rests on your bones as the nuclear winter persists in destroying all living things cold. And it’s only going to get worse. Dammit.

Black and Brown Coalition

Two weeks ago the Black and Brown Coalition, a loose set of clubs and student groups, helped organize a listening conversation at Cole’s.

Last week the BBC made their list of demands public, inviting students to suggest changes to existing demands as well as offer additions to the list.

Meanwhile some wonderful people on Instagram decided to make Bobst look like something other than a soul sucking black hole in the middle of The Village.

We have to admit they kind of did a good job.

Only kind of…

Roxy King tells us all about fitness

It’s difficult to maintain any level of health during the famously waist-line expanding college years, especially in New York. There’s awful dining hall food, cheap stands and food trucks and an incredible amount of stress.

But not for Roxy King.

The fitness guru told us all about how she keeps healthy, and it turns out we can indulge in something greasy and awful every now and then.

And while some people like Roxy managed to find that incredible space between having a good time and staying on top of their shit, most of us have, well, just given up.

Not totally… just on school and everything that goes along with that.

Best Taco in NYC

Yes, NYC’s cuisine is mostly associated with incredible pizza slices and mystery-meat-hot dogs.

Yes, Mexican food is the West Coast’s domain.

And yes there are some incredible Taco spots around campus.

We went around to find the best tacos, and this wonderful city did not disappoint.

Let these reasonably priced locations (we see you 10% off sign, don’t worry) fill you up with some good food as you click “submit” on so many papers you wouldn’t have submitted two months ago.

It’s ok, the term is almost over.

You’ll be able to rest soon.

Confessions of an LSP Freshman

So what if people in LSP don’t know what exactly they want to do for the rest of their lives right at the very beginning of their college careers?

Jake Steel explains exactly what LSP has done for him, and why it’s a wonderful program to have at a school which often touts the well-rounded over the brilliant.
