‘Explosive fire’ in Chem building extinguished

The building was evacuated at 9:30am

The chemistry building was evacuated this morning due to an “explosive fire.” At around 9:30am the fire alarm went off and fire officials arrived on the scene.

Students on the scene were told it was an “explosive fire.”

The streets were blocked off and students were told to move away from the sidewalk.

The fire has now been put out but University Avenue is still closed.

An announcement hasn’t been made yet about classes being canceled.
