The IU campus is a total ghost town right now

Here’s some photo evidence

The students play a key role in making IU what it is. This isn’t more obvious than when they are removed from the equation. The campus is pretty barren to the point of it being a little eerie. Spotting another human figure wandering the abandoned horizon is evocative of a scene of a stumbling zombie from The Walking Dead.

Of course, shambling hoards of brain-eaters have not swept across the campus, but with the hundreds of knowledge-hungry Hoosiers absent. It is a different place.

But why tell you when I could show you?

This is the bus stop outside the north entrance to our famous Wells Library. I wanted spell that out for you in case you subconsciously repressed this place due to midterm study-cramming trauma. Or perhaps you simply couldn’t recognize a snapshot of the Wells bus stop at midday that isn’t crawling with hefty-backpack-toting students.

“Sure. But I bet the bus is still miserably crowded,” you might think to yourself.

Guess again.

Here, just feast your eyes on how inactive the Ashton grotto is. Not a solitary soul in sight.

Although, seeing as Ashton houses all the single-dorm shut-ins, maybe this isn’t the best example. For all you know this was taken before Spring Break.

Honestly, same goes for Union Street. The only exciting thing to happen there is the fake bomb scare that went down across the street that one time.

The 10th and Woodlawn intersection — now this place is usually bumpin’ with heavy vehicle traffic and students from Kelly, SPEA, and Informatics trying to get to the IMU or the Collins Great Hall of food. Not today, though.

It might also be caused by the road closure on Woodlawn. Even with the students gone, the construction projects wreaking havoc on the bus routes is ever present. Some things never change.

As we take this gander at the beauteous Arboretum, I think we can all agree that even without students around, the IU campus is always going to be breathtakingly scenic.

But we also are aware of the manner in which our very attractive student body enhanced the aesthetics of IUB. So can everyone hurry up and get back here? Please?
