Provost’s initiative hands out free Starbucks at Sample Gates

It’s all for the #gloryofcoldIU

Earlier today, free coffee and IU mugs were handed out at the Sample Gates by bubbly workers representing the Office of the Provost.

A small group of students stood in front of the Sample Gates, waving a poster with the message: “Free Coffee & IU Mugs.”

They cheered at passing students and cars, smiling despite the frigid, snowy air. “Free coffee, no catch,” said IU senior Olivia Humphreys, an intern at the Office of the Provost.

“We just want to give students something to look forward to,” Olivia said. “The Provost just wanted to keep students warm.”

It’s part of an  initiative by the Office of the Provost to help out chilly Hoosiers, and the Provost encourages students to tweet pictures of our gorgeous winter campus with the tag #gloryofcoldIU.

They are done handing out coffee today, but plan to do future “pop-up hot spots” around noon in the coming weeks.

The best way to find out is through the #gloryofcoldIU hashtag or by following the IU Provost Twitter, and by checking the Office of the Provost website on especially snowy and miserably cold days.
