After penalty kicks, Hoyas fail to advance in NCAA soccer tournament

‘We have so many great seniors that have been program-defining’

The Georgetown men’s soccer season ended yesterday with a loss to Boston College.

The third-seeded team failed in penalty kicks, reminiscent of the 2014 season.

Georgetown Coach Brian Wiese told the Washington Post: “It’s hard because it’s the second year in a row you feel like you have a team that might be able to win the whole thing.

“And penalties are a hard way to go out.”

The Hoyas finish this season with a program record of 16-2-3 and continues with an 18-game unbeaten streak.

Additionally, the senior class is the most accomplished in the history of the soccer program, with four national tournaments.

Weise added: “We have so many great seniors that have been program-defining. It will be odd not to see them on the field next year.

“My heart goes out to those guys because they put everything into this team, and this season and you would have loved to see them get back to the College Cup.”
