What you missed at BU this week

The mumps and Chris Hardwick?

After a much needed spring break, campus is back up and running, and boy did a lot happen.

The mumps infiltrated campus

Three students were infected and hopefully no more will follow.

Comedian Chris Hardwick visited BU Friday night

Comedian and television host Chris Hardwick came to Boston University Friday night to perform standup during BU’s Week of Comedy. He even had a geotag on Snapchat just for the event.

Nora Panahi, the first female winner of BU’s Funniest, opened for Chris. Her act included jokes about growing up part Iranian, part white and she joked a fair amount about awful customers. She finished her set with a little song describing horrible elderly customers. Nora kept the crowd laughing the entire time.

Next came comedian and BU alum Myq Kaplan. He joked that he never finishes a joke. Instead, he starts to tell a joke, which evolves into another joke, into another, into another. He rarely let you find out the end of the joke.

Finally came Chris Hardwick. He started his portion of the night by telling a few jokes then trying to get a feel for the audience and the college as a whole. He was very active in the audience and asked students questions. He even obsessed over one student’s hair. Later, Chris had a question and answer live stream on his Facebook page that thousands of people across the world watched and commented on. To finish off the show, he invited Nora Panahi back on stage with him to sing and play the ukulele. Together they singed ‘Come Sail Away’ by Styx.

Students left the show with red cheeks and smiles plastered to their faces.

We learned how to celebrate St. Patty’s Day in Boston

Hopefully you aren’t missing Boston’s parade! There were tons of events going on around Boston this weekend.

There was a stabbing by BU’s medical campus

Our text/email/call alert system went nuts.

The BU Athletics website was up for grabs

We were just hoping someone from BC didn’t win the bidding war.
