22-year-old ‘still in critical condition’ from alleged MDMA overdose at Assembly

An investigation is ongoing


A 22-year-old taken to hospital after being suspected of taking MDMA at The Assembly in Leamington Spa remains in hospital.

A spokesperson for Warwickshire Police told The Warwick Tab the unnamed girl's condition remains "critical."

The Police also said the circumstances behind the unidentified woman being in hospital is still "under investigation."

In a previous statement, a spokesperson for the Warwickshire Police said a number of other attendants at the event were also admitted to hospital after "suffering adverse side affects."

A 19-year-old student at Coventry was also rushed to hospital on Friday 31st of January and later died from a suspected MDMA overdose taken whilst at The Assembly event, during which the bar allegedly stopped selling water.

In a previous Instagram post, a spokesperson for Assembly said: "We are extremely saddened by the incident which occurred last night and extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends at this very sad time."

"We take the well-being of our customers extremely seriously, we continue to work closely with Warwickshire Police and reiterate our zero-tolerance policy on drugs in our venue."
