Warwick student starts petition to lower heating on campus

She wants Warwick to reduce their carbon footprint

A final-year student at the University of Warwick has started a petition to lower heating on campus.

Rosanna Harvey-Crawford, who studies French with Sociology, said that she has always thought that campus was “uncomfortably hot”. After attending a climate change talk last week, she decided that a change is desperately needed.

“The talk was amazing but also really scary. One of the speakers said a room only has to be 19 degrees, and obviously Warwick is way over that.

“Campus is uncomfortably hot, which is stupid, and it’s terrible because it’s such a huge waste of energy.”

The petition, which already has 120 signatures since Friday, urges Warwick to make a conscious effort to lower the heating on campus, in order to reduce the carbon footprint of the University.

Rosanna added: “If Warwick prides itself on sustainability, they should do something.

“I don’t mean the petition to be aggressive. It’s just to show the Vice Chancellor and the Head of Sustainability that lots of people agree. I really hope they listen and try and take action.”

Rosanna is hoping to email Warwick on Monday afternoon regarding the results of her petition.
