REVEALED: Fiona Clements is Sussex’s Best Lecturer 2020

A great day for Law students across the world

Ladies and gentlemen, the time has finally come to announce the winner of The Tab Sussex’s extremely prestigious award of Best Lecturer 2020! Over fifty of your favourite lecturers were nominated, and we received over 2,000 votes deciding who should take the crown. Every single nominee was deserving in their own way, but of course, there could only be one winner!

The Sussex Tab can now exclusively reveal that the winner of Sussex’s Best Lecturer 2020 is Fiona Clements!

That’s right, this lovely lady, well-known in the Law School for her friendly demeanour and inspiring lectures, wins the crown with 64 per cent of the vote – and boy does she deserve it!

Before hearing from the queen herself, let’s have a look back at the competition.

In the final round, Fiona was pitted against Andy Field from the School of Psychology. Following his defeat, Andy told us that he is “disappointed to not have an excuse to buy a tiara, but huge congratulations to Fiona.” How very humble, Andy.

But now, back to the winner! Fiona has previously been recognised as “the sweetest lecturer in the world”, with reports that she delivers lectures in such a way that they come “to life in your head.” She is well known in the law school for her bright smile and friendly nature, and never fails to make the roughest of 9ams a little more bearable.

After having to read the news of her win TWICE in disbelief, Fiona exclusively told The Sussex Tab “I’m still pinching myself now!… I am thrilled to bits and so grateful to you for giving me this opportunity.

“Being crowned Sussex’s Best Lecturer 2020 really is something special. And the reason it’s special is because I know that it’s my students who nominated and then voted for me. I simply wouldn’t be here without them and I’m truly grateful to every single one of them who took the time and trouble to vote. It really does mean so much to me.

“Thank you to the team at The Sussex Tab too for running such an awesome competition – it’s definitely been a welcome distraction and lifted people’s spirits during a pretty tough term!” – beautiful words, Fiona!

So there we have it. After weeks of nail-biting voting, Sussex’s Best Lecturer 2020 has been chosen. Congratulations, Fiona, and well done to all of the other brilliant nominees! We hope to see you next year!
