Two gunmen open fire in Kensington news shop
Police beieve it was a ‘targeted attack’
Two men walked into Darin News newsagents on Holt road in Kensington last night and opened fire on three males. Police believe it was a ‘targeted attack.’
Three male customers were shot at by the two gunmen who entered the shop just before 10.30pm on Saturday 7th May.
A helicopter hovered over the area and armed officers flooded the scene after the shooting. Luckily no one was injured but there is some damage to the shop.
Merseyside Police are searching for the gunmen and the three unidentified customers. They remain at the scene with part of the shop cordoned off this morning and are asking for anyone with information to get in touch.
Detective Inspector Mike Leyland, of the Matrix Serious and Organised Crime (MSOC) team, said:
“The investigation is in the early stages but initial enquiries suggest that this was a targeted attack against unidentified men inside the shop. We would urge anyone in the Holt Road area around 10.30pm who saw or heard anything suspicious to contact police.
“Anyone with information on a vehicle seen to leave the area at speed could also prove vital to our investigation. Thankfully nobody was injured, but we are keen to speak with those persons inside the shop to ensure they are safe and well and establish the full circumstances behind this incident.”
Anyone with information is urged to call MSOC officers on 0800 230 0600 for FREE or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 for free.
