Police have released images of a man suspected of raping a 36-year-old woman in Woodhouse.

The attack happened at about 1am on Sunday after the two met in The Hedley Verity Pub on Woodhouse Lane.

The man, who introduced himself as “Jamie” followed her when she went out for a cigarette and told her she couldn’t smoke there and had to go to the back of the building.

The incident happened in the rear loading area used by both the Hedley Verity Pub and Yates’s after they walked down Vernon Street and Percival Street.

Police have reported that the attacker is about 5”7, wearing a dark coloured t-shirt, of average build with short, cropped, light blonde hair.

Detective Inspector Phil Jackson said: “While the CCTV image only shows the suspect from behind and at a distance we hope together with the time, location and physical description, including the possible name Jamie, that someone will know his identity”

The police urge that anyone with any information about the incident or the attacker should call PC David Cox at Elland Road police station on 101 or if they wish to remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
