Killing cat-astrophe angers locals

Pet-owners battle for justice after two cats are shot with an airgun

An emergency hotline has been set up after an Exeter cat killer shot two cats with an airgun.

Zoe Butterworth, from Exwick (behind St David’s Station), rang round vets after her cat Missy went missing. Horrifically, she discovered her cat had been shot at close range.

This isn’t Missy, but she was probably just as cute

The attack on Missy caused paralysing spinal injuries, which meant she was put down at the end of February.

A month later, Missy’s kitten Sonja, was shot by an airgun pellet, causing neck injuries.

The latest incident has caused the cat owner to contact Exwick’s local cat lady, who has carried out her own checks.

The woman, a trained mental health professional who chooses to remain unnamed, is concerned about the rapidly rising cat crimes. She said: “If the individual behind these crimes is not caught quickly, we may well end up with a fully-fledged psychopath in our community.”
