Body Confirmed To be Missing Yulia
Police have confirmed that a body found in Argyll last week is that of missing Edinburgh University student Yulia Solodyankin.
The 22-year-old physics student was reported missing in June 2013. She was last seen on CCTV in a Glasgow bus station on 7 June.
Remains were discovered in a remote location near Arrochar on Thursday 9th Janurary. At the time, police had been unable to confirm the body’s identity.
Today however, a statement from Police Scotland said: “Following further forensic examination and DNA testing, we can confirm the identity as that of Russian student, Yulia Solodyankina who had been reported missing in June.”
Police have also said there were no suspicious circumstances in connection with the death.
Ms Solodyankin’s Moscow based family have been informed.
