Remember that cute girl in your lecture you always wanted to get to know but never did? Remember that hot guy who always eye-fucks the shit out of you when you see him in clubs? (well, that escalated quickly). Ok anyway, now there is an event for you to finally capitalize on all of these missed opportunities. A chance, for more than just a glance (damn I’m good).

You’d be crazy and stupid not to love looks like this.

GoldRush, an emerging Edinburgh Uni tradition, is a hush-hush party for 4th years held at the end of exams. With the theme, ‘A Night of No Regrets’, it gives students one last chance at the one that got away, before they get away forever. The idea is that if there is one specific person, be it the girl from Pollock in first year, a guy from your course, or even just a close friend that you’ve maybe always wanted to see naked, they are considered your ‘GoldRush’, and you have this final night to throw caution to the wind and make a move.

We’ve all been there.

As I personally have left no stone unturned, no mountain unclimbed, and no female desire left un-acquired (there I go again!), I have no specific ‘Goldrush’, and will thus be up to the usual – charming the pants off rando’s with my chat. But for many, this night is not only one last chance at love (and some lovin’), but one last party to go nuts with their friends,  forget about regrets, and enjoy what uni is really about. Also might be a chance to ‘meet’ Sophie Lau, because you never know, you could be her goldrush.

Clearly went to Goldrush

Whilst the saying ‘the last days of Rome’ is usually used to describe what a party WASN’T, for Goldrush, it is spot on.

For any forth years, tickets are being sold at 56 North. And take four seconds to answer the poll: which are you more excited for, Goldrush or Graduation Ball?
