Rugby Union

Jonny House, 3rd year, Politics (Men’s Club Captain)

Where do you live? Mannor Drive.

What’s your favourite night? Wednesdays at Warehouse.

What are you currently lifting in the gym? Bench 125kg, deadlift 160kg and squat 140kg.

Do you have any pre-match rituals? I always have to wear my Christmas undies for a match day.

Anna Hamilton, 5th year, Psychology Ph.D. (Women’s 1st Team Captain)

Where do you live? Woodhouse.

What’s your favourite night? Fruity.

What are you currently lifting in the gym? Bench 40kg, squat 75kg and deadlift 85kg.

Do you have any pre-match rituals? Eating bananas.

Liam Hine, 4th year, Terrorism, Security and Insurgency MA (Men’s Club Captain)

Do you have any pre-match rituals? Listening to ‘Nessun Dorma’ by Pavarotti.

Tell us something about you others won’t know: I spent 6 days in hospital after second-year varsity from an ankle injury.

Vicky Palin, 4th year, Medicine (Women’s 1st Team Captain)

Where do you live? Headingley.

What’s your favourite night? Fruity.

Do you have any pre-match rituals? Before a match I always eat a jam sandwich and have to put my left boot on before my right.

Tell us something interesting about yourself: I played in the Northern Premier League for Wolverhampton Wanderers and I’ve also met Prince Edward.

Justin Brown, 3rd year, Dentistry (Men’s 1st Team Captain)

Where do you live? Woodhouse.

What’s your favourite night? Fruity at the Union.

What are you currently lifting in the gym? Bench 65kg, deadlift 100kg and squat 105kg.

Do you have any pre-match rituals? Buying a post-game bottle of Mondelli from Sainsbury’s for the team.

Tell us something about you others won’t know: I’m starring as a hockey player in a Bollywood movie, ‘Gold’, coming out next summer.

Molly Bret, 3rd year, Sport and Exercise Science (Women’s Club Captain)

Where do you live? Hyde Park.

What’s your favourite night? Obviously Fruity.

What are you currently lifting in the gym? Bench 40kg and squat 70kg.

Tell us something about you others won’t know: I once made it into the Daily Star newspaper advertising boat parties in Ibiza.

Athletics

Phoebe Bramley, 3rd year, Medical engineering (Women’s Captain)

Where do you live? Woodhouse.

What’s your favourite night? Fruity.

What are you currently lifting in the gym? Bench 35kg, deadlift 55kg and squat 50kg.

Do you have any pre-match rituals? Stretch and foam roll while I lip sync to the ‘Happy Pop Songs’ playlist on Spotify.

Tell us something about you others won’t know: 4 years ago I hated long distance running and wanted to drop out of school to join the French fire brigade. I can also walk on my hands.

Abdulaziz Adekola, 3rd year, Law (Men’s 1st Team Captain)

Where do you live? Living at home (Leeds local, back with mumsy).

What are you currently lifting in the gym? Bench 100kg for 10, squat 150kg for 10 and deadlift 200kg for 5.

Do you have any pre-match rituals? Listen to ‘Dreams and Nightmares’ by Meek Mill.

Tell us something about you others won’t know: I threw punches at former three-time world heavyweight Boxing champion Lennox Lewis (at an event).

Alice Craft, 2nd year, International History and Politics (Women’s 1st Team Captain)

What’s your favourite night? An outrageous Wednesday night sports social in Players and Warehouse.

What are you currently lifting in the gym? Weight training starts next week.

Do you have any pre-match rituals? One banana.

Tell us something about you others won’t know: I lived as a nanny in Montreal, Canada and still can’t speak a word of French.

Dan Aspin, 2nd year, Mechanical engineering (Men’s 1st Team & Club Captain)

Do you have any pre-match rituals? I always wear socks that I’ve only ever worn in matches.

Tell us something about you others won’t know: I can solve a Rubik’s cube in under a minute.

Rowing 

Emily ‘Effy’ Lindsay, 5th year, Medicine (Women’s Captain)

Where do you live? Headingley.

What’s your favourite night? Mixtape at Hifi.

What are you currently lifting in the gym? I don’t do weights, my job as a cox is to be small and light.

Do you have any pre-match rituals? Listening to ‘Not Giving In’ by Rudimental.

Tell us something interesting about you: I’m the coxswain, or cox so I spend my time steering the boat and shouting at the other rowers. Basically, I’m the boss.
