*Warning: Spoilers ahead for MobLand season 2 episode 1* MobLand season 2 has officially kicked off on Paramount+, and it looks like the Harrigans have a much bigger problem on their hands than the rival crime families trying to take them down: Seraphina Harrigan is plotting against her own dad. The second chapter picks up after a pretty chaotic finale for the Harrigan family. Harry Da Souza (Tom Hardy) helped them finally bring their war with Richie Stevenson to an end, but Conrad’s (Pierce Brosnan) criminal empire was hardly left in a stable position. Kevin (Paddy Considine) had discovered that Conrad slept with his wife Bella (Lara Pulver) while he was in prison and is actually Eddie’s biological father. Yes, that means the man Kevin had spent years believing was his son is technically his half-brother. Meanwhile, Seraphina (Mandeep Dhillon) was already looking beyond her own family after meeting with the Harrigans’ powerful new rival Kat McAllister (Janet McTeer). And season 2 wastes absolutely no time in revealing just how far Seraphina is prepared to go. So, how does Seraphina betray the Harrigans in MobLand season 2? Credit: Paramount+ In MobLand season 2 episode 1, Seraphina secretly meets with Kat behind her family’s back and makes her an absolutely huge offer. Seraphina wants Conrad removed from the top of the Harrigan empire so she can take his place. In exchange for Kat helping her take control of the family business, Seraphina offers her half of the Harrigans’ revenue for four years. Kat then gives Seraphina a number to call and tells her to pass on anything she hears from Harry or the rest of her family. In short, it’s clear she means business. This is particularly significant given where things were left at the end of season 1. Conrad’s relationship with Kevin is already fractured, Eddie’s true parentage has thrown the family dynamic into chaos and Kat has made it very clear she wants to topple the Harrigans. Now, she’s got someone on the inside willing to help her do exactly that. What does Seraphina’s betrayal mean for the Harrigan family? Credit: Paramount+ In a conversation with Numéro Netherlands, Mandeep Dhillon explained that Seraphina’s power grab stems partly from what happened to her in season 1, when she was kidnapped by Richie’s men and nearly killed. “In season 1, she came so close to death. That experience has changed something in her, and she will do absolutely everything in her power to never be in that position again,” Dhillon said. “Seraphina is fully out for herself this season. She knows what she wants and she will do absolutely everything to get it. I was really excited to explore the lengths she would go to make a change. She is super smart, savvy and strategic, and I love that she isn’t afraid to play with fire to get to the top.” Despite plotting to overthrow her own father, that doesn’t mean Seraphina has suddenly stopped caring about Conrad. “She loves her family, even though they are all a bit messed up, and she loves her father even though she believes his time is over,” the actress added. “She can see everyone’s flaws and their blind spots.” In MobLand season 2, she’s looking at Kat and the power she holds, and she wants the same thing for herself. “Her ambition is huge,” Dhillon said. “She wants to be as big as Kat McAllister. She wants that level of power, and she knows the perfect way to get it.” Given Seraphina’s ambition and determination, it’s not looking good for the rest of the Harrigan family – in season 2, their biggest problem might be each other.
