So, Lanterns episode 5 just left us with a pretty massive Hal Jordan mystery, but the Spanish subtitles may have actually exposed a huge spoiler about what happened to him. In the latest episode, John Stewart defeated Hal, took his ring and then rejected it. All while Hal was seemingly left behind after the explosion involving the Manhunter. But now, some viewers think the show’s Spanish subtitles may have accidentally revealed something huge about Hal’s fate. After the explosion, Hal’s fate is looking very uncertain. The show is about to jump forward from 2016 to 2026, when we’ll finally find out what happened to Hal and who killed him. Now, one detail in the Spanish subtitles has got people wondering if we’ve already been given a massive spoiler. And if the subtitles are actually correct, then basically everything we thought we knew about Hal’s fate could be about to change. The Spanish subtitles call Hal a ‘clone’ Credit: HBO Max As spotted by ComicBookMovie, the Spanish subtitles for episode 5 label the injured Hal we see at the motel as “Clone de Hal”, which translates to “Hal clone”. And that is a pretty massive thing to call him. Especially because earlier in the episode, Hal had already revealed that his ring could create a “Halogram”. He breaks off a piece of his ring and sends the Halogram after Zoe. So, the show has already established that there can be a version of Hal that isn’t necessarily the real one. Now, the theory doing the rounds is that the Hal who is defeated during the fight with John could actually be the Halogram. Somehow, it may have taken on a physical form. Or the real Hal could have been switched out for the holographic version at some point. If that’s what happened, then the real Hal could still be out there somewhere. And honestly, that would explain why Lanterns has spent so much time making a big deal out of the Halogram. It also raises loads of questions about what happened to the actual Hal after the explosion. Could he have escaped? Is he somewhere off-world? And, more importantly, does he still have his ring? We don’t know yet. But if Hal somehow survived with another version of the ring, it could potentially help explain how the DCU gets from the events of Lanterns to the version of the Green Lantern Corps we see later. It’s not confirmed yet, so I guess we’ll just have to wait until the next episode drops. For all the latest film and TV updates and hot takes, like our Facebook page.
