Warning: Spoilers ahead for Euphoria finale The final episode of Euphoria has just dropped, and as many predicted, we just watched Rue die – though not quite how we expected. Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje has explained exactly why Alamo killed Rue, and it’s even darker than you thought. After Rue successfully secures the items from Alamo’s safe, he seems to have forgiven her. The drug lord gives her a bag stuffed with cash for her trouble, and a week off. But he also leaves a tub of fentanyl laced painkillers, knowing full well ex-addict Rue will be tempted by the drugs. Alamo: I want the American dream. A white picket fence. Marriage. Kids. A future with you. Adewale told Variety the exact moment their relationship switched. Here’s the brutal reason why Alamo kills Rue, and the moment that changed everything “She’s young, she’s ambitious, she’s fearless, and that gave her grace initially. Obviously, we see she’s expired on that,” Adewale explained. “Her usefulness is almost at an end, and we know that Alamo will only entertain you as far as it can benefit him. He did like her, and it was somewhat of a father-daughter, mentor-disciple relationship initially, but she squandered that with her behaviour.” AND FUCK ALAMO FOR GIVING RUE THOSE PILLS #Euphoria pic.twitter.com/52zRebu4Xc — ໊ (@wandasattorney) June 1, 2026 The betrayal from Rue triggered Alamo’s deep-rooted mummy issues, so he had to get the most brutal revenge possible. “As we see from his relationship with his mother, one thing Alamo would not do is let a b*tch outsmart him — or betray him again. Rue has triggered something deep in him, and there are repercussions to that,” Adewale said. The actor clarified: “I think when it really turns and when his instinct kicks in is when the robbery happens. That’s when the audience sees Alamo has second thoughts about Rue’s loyalty — when she doesn’t identify the robbers by voice after having lived with them. That’s the telling moment that she’s probably playing both sides, but there’s always a suspicion.” For all the latest film and TV updates and hot takes, like our Facebook page.
