After Gen V’s cancellation and Marie’s shock cameo in The Boys, Jaz Sinclair has a sad message

Jaz Sinclair – who starred as Marie in The Boys spin-off show Gen V – has addressed the show’s cancellation, and now I’m sobbing.

Gen V’s executive producers confirmed in April 2026 that Prime Video cancelled Gen V, and we wouldn’t get a season three. Many fans hoped Marie and her friends would have a huge role in the final season of The Boys instead, but this doesn’t seem to be the case. Marie did finally pop up in season five episode seven… only for Starlight to instantly fire her. Although Marie and Jordan did make a fleeting appearance later on in the episode, it wasn’t the starring part some fans had hoped for.

After the Gen V characters were sidelined like this, Jaz Sinclair has posted a sad message about her time as Marie. It really sounds as if she is saying goodbye to the world and signing off as the character. Help.

Jaz wrote on her Instagram: “I can’t possibly sum up the last five years of joys, challenges, loss, laughter, late nights and friendships in a post.

“But what I will say is that I am truly honored to have gotten to be your Marie. She is fierce and flawed and powerful as hell. And as a woman, particularly a woman of colour, it brings me so much pride to have gotten to embody such a multifaceted and badass character.”

Jaz shared a montage of behind-the-scenes pictures of her training for the role, and hanging out with the cast of Gen V. Aw. She went into detail about auditioning for the role of Marie way back in 2021. “Normally I do a tape and forget about it forever,” she wrote, “but for some reason I dreamt about this one for a month. When I got the call (after five more auditions) I screamed and cried and jumped up and down. I felt the kind of head-to-toe excitement that you only feel when something is all the way right.”

She continued: “Every time one of you fine folks say hi to me on the street and lets me know you were moved by Marie I positively beam, that’s what it’s all for I think. To get to see a piece of your heart reflected in another. From the bottom of my heart, thank you all.” I’m not crying, you are.

Jaz ended the post with “for Chance”, as a tribute to the Gen V cast member Chance Perdomo. He sadly died in March 2024.

Eric Kripke, the creator of The Boys and Gen V, commented underneath: “Thank you for everything you’ve done to make Marie so alive and powerful and mean so much to so many. I hope we see her again. Until then, all my love.”

Hey, The Boys might not be the last we see of Marie and the other Gen V characters! Eric Kripke does sound optimistic some characters could feature in another show set in the same world. He told Polygon: “I think there is more story among the Gen V kids. It won’t necessarily be in Gen V, but hopefully we can get some more Vought series going so that we can continue their story.”
