The real-life ages of the Euphoria cast compared to their characters in season three

East Highland High School in Euphoria is a very strange institution. Nobody does any work, the teachers barely exist, and all the students are in their mid-20s. Even though season three takes place after a time jump, the cast of Euphoria are still way older than their characters.

The plot of Euphoria often seems to take place beyond the limits of time, space or reason. But if you examine the dates on photos and phones, you’ll see Euphoria season one is set in the summer, autumn and winter of 2018. Rue is narrating the events of season one as she reflects on them after the ending of season two in 2019. Season three happens after a five-year time jump, and seems to be set in autumn 2024.

So, here’s a rundown of the ages of the Euphoria cast, and how much older they are then their characters by season three.

Cassie

In Lexi’s weird play in season two, she specifies that Cassie is exactly 433 days older than her. This would make her 24 in season three. Sydney Sweeney is 28 in the present day, although she was 27 when most of season three was filmed last year.

Jules

She was in the same school year as her on-again, off-again, soulmate-level situationship girlfriend Rue. So, Jules is 23 in season three. Perhaps she took a gap year before art school? Hunter Schafer is currently 27, and acted in season three when she was 26.

Lexi

Although Lexi is over a year younger than Cassie, Maude Apatow is just three years and three months younger than Sydney Sweeney. She turned 28 a month after filming wrapped for season three. Lexi is 23 (or possibly even 22) in season three.

Maddy

Woah, Alexa Demie is much older than I would have guessed. She was already in her late 20s when she was cast as 17-year-old Maddy. The actor is 35 right now – making her 11 years older than her character. Alexa is the oldest cast member playing one of the core Euphoria characters.

Nate

He’s already 18 by the start of season one. We don’t know when his birthday it, but it’s likely he’s 24 by season three. Jacob Elordi turned 28 during production of season three. Well, he’s still way closer in age to Nate than he was to Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights!

Rue

The very start of Euphoria states Rue was born just after 9/11. That makes her 23 in season three. Our queen Zendaya is 29 right now (although she was 28 when most of these episodes were filmed).
